Introduction

The difference between your daddy and the government. It is a great fault in people to think that they can either not work, not work much, and live a good life because the government “should” give them a good life. Really, the only situation where that is true is when a person is young, underage for work and being responsible for themselves, and their parents support them. But so many people carry that same mindset, “I am special, so others should serve me so that I don’t have to stress myself with life and work.

God Commands Everyone to Work to Support themselves and their Families

2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.(See also Genesis 2:15; 3:19; Proverbs 13:4)
The Bible teaches very clearly the obligation for every person to work.
1 Thessalonians 4:11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; 1 Thessalonians 4:12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
Moreover, each person has a relationship with others in the world, and God commands us to work diligently and calmly (without scandal) so that each one of us can not be dependent on others. Government welfare is exactly the opposite of this biblical principle. In other words, people who can work but refuse to work are sinning. God’s attitude towards them, as well as what our attitude towards them should be, is that if they will not work gainfully, hard work, then they should starve to death.

Godly Pleasure and Blessing in Enjoying the Fruit of your own Labor

Moreover, the Bible teaches that there is a certain godly pleasure in working hard and enjoying the fruit of that labor.
Ecclesiastes 2:24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.
This pleasure pleases God in that the person gains self-worth. He sees his labors as being an essential part of his life. Moreover, when a person “has” possessions he has gained from hard work, it is a double blessing when he gives of that over-abundance to others in need rather than focus on a life of pleasure, luxury, and excesses.

Charity is a Blessing in Itself

Ephesians 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
While Christians understand these divine principles, the non-Christian wants anybody or everybody (government public assistance) to give to them. The point here is very profound. They won’t work, and they want to live the good life without working, and they want people who work hard to sacrifice of their own profit from their own labors in order for these lazy people to live a life of luxury. That is wrong.
While charity, or the giving of something of value to other needy people, is a blessing, we need to give in accordance to how God presents charity, or we are just as wrong as the thief. Charity is always on a single and individual basis. This is always under the discernment of the giver, never forced as in government taxing citizens to give to lazy people who refuse to work.
When a religious group does charity work, (correctly, not as an NGO), they discern the worthiness of making a donation to the person, examining and studying their particular situation before giving. If they see a family where the adults are drug addicts, they never give cash, because the hunger of the children will not be met giving cash. They always go for actual food goods rather than cash, and even sometimes in those cases, they will insist on bringing actual hot food meals to the home, and want to see the children it that food in front of them before they leave.
But the important point is whenever giving becomes “institutionalized” the receiving of that giving is “universal” no matter how abusive that person is. To “discriminate” or discern between those who should receive the help and any conditions on that help becomes a matter of public policy, and in our day and age, discrimination is ALWAYS a public crime. It is not. We all discriminate, and that is not a bad thing. Nobody eats any food without discriminating if it is spoilt or not. They also are highly picky at times, wanting certain foods rather than others, because that particular person “doesn’t like” broccoli or whatever. Women prefer salads and men steak and potatoes. That is discrimination at work. It is not wrong because (1) preferences matter and cannot be forced on people, (2) to be totally non-discriminatory is to allow bad things to happen. Injustice is when a blind child opens his mouth and his mother puts Brussels sprouts in it.

The Bible Teaches Giving is Better than Receiving

Acts 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
There are great spiritual blessings in giving to others. But once again, this is only when it is voluntary in the heart of the giver. If government assistance was only funded by voluntary gifts of the citizens, it would essentially disappear. Politicians would push heavily for it, because that is how they get votes, giving away other people’s money. By if you investigate the charity, or giving, of politicians, you would find that (1) they give very little, (2) the majority of their gifts are to those who support them, i.e. they are giving in order to get more votes. Again, the overwhelming numbers tell a different story that what is their “public propaganda”. They personally give very little, and publicly they are very generous when giving away the taxpayers’ taxes.

What a Good Parent Wants

A wise and good daddy wants their kids to grow up, support themselves, be mature and adult, understand their gender and act it (deal correctly with reality and not live in unreal fantasies) and this means get over games and live life responsibly.
Good parents want foolish out of their kids. Dress up is over and doing real chores and work is essential. The mark of adulthood is how long and hard a tern can do real work well without giving up or going on break.

A Mature Adult Works to Support Himself

A real adult comes to work early, prepares for work on his own time, gauges his breaks to not harm the business, really rests at his breaks (not play with his phone), is a hard, good worker, really getting things accomplished, and cleans up after work, so his workplace is ready for the next shift. A real adult focuses on really working for his wages, and doesn’t always murmur about “work”. His non-work time is spent resting and being refreshed to continue work the next time he is supposed to work. Work is not rest time because he stayed up partying the night before.
A good, honest worker puts the good of the company ahead of personal interests. A good worker never hurts or destroys a coworker in image blasphemy or reality. They always support their team and company.

The Scam of Government Public Assistance

Actually, I am not against helping other people. But there are things that I have learned as a pastor of a church.  Many people want help. But they want your help and sacrifice without conditions. The conditions that normally come about with help is so that the receiver of the gift does not abuse the situation. They have addictions, and they want others to pay for their addictions. Sane people will always balk at that. Only when the government and the politicians enter into the scene will these abuses happen without any checks and balances.
Civility is always observed and practiced.
