The Bible Understanding of Kings

God ordains human civil government. This is very obvious from a reading of Scripture. In fact, God very clearly commandments all people (especially obedient Christians) to obey civil authority as it is appointed by God.

Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Romans 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. Romans 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: Romans 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

This passage commands everyone to be subject to the valid civil authorities over them. It also outlines that governments duty, what God commands the people in government, is to “be a terror” to those who do evil. They are to protect those who do good. Every government civil servant is a minister of God. He is to punish evil doers.

To go beyond that, civil leaders in government are considered in a sense “to be gods” in Psalms 82. See my explanation of this here, God rebukes Politicians Psalms 82. They are not gods in the sense that we are to worship them nor to seek gifts from them. They are in a pure sense of the word “gods” in that they decide the welfare and state of our people.

In the New Testament, the disciples came to a crossroads of God commanding Christians to obey God, and the civil governors commanding them not to preach in the name of Jesus.

Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Christians obey the civil authorities because they are obedient to God. When there is a contradiction between what that civil government orders and what God commands, we suffer whatever the consequence, and we obey God.

What no Kings movement means

So when people reject having any authority over them, especially a king, a person at the head of that authority of government, they are in essence in plain open rebellion against God himself. While they say that they are against Donald Trump moving into a king like position and control over the control, (which they totally reject), where do they stand in the light of God´s commandments?

What the law of the land is, we must obey it. If we do not, then that same lay has “teeth” which cut those who break that law. That is the point here. They should suffer what the law outlines. That is the government doing what it is supposed to do. The law breakers are brought in the justice system and tried, and if found guilty under the processes outlined in our government’s laws, then they should suffer whatever punishment is met out for such conduct.

Donald Trump Syndrome

The fact that individuals odiously hate a particular person in government makes no difference as to obeying the laws of the land. In a military situation, every soldier has to obey the commands of their commanding officers, whether they like that person personally or not. The same is true for citizens in a country. It is ridiculous that this movement has some kind of moral high ground. They don’t. Breaking the law is wrong and has bad consequences for those who are so bold to go down that road.

Hypocrisy of the No Kings Movement

What is a king (in their opinion)? It is a governor who disrespects the legally establish laws of the land. So when Democrats march against immigration installations, when they assault ICE agents, what are they doing? These Democrats are a law unto themselves, and they are making themselves the king! So if Trump were taking a kingship position, would such a dictator type governor allow free speech and marches against him? No. So these people do not even make sense. The very fact of their march being allowed is a concession to the fact that Trump is not a king. Talk about illogical arguments and activity!

What do false prophets want?
These are reflective, meditative thoughts about false prophets in our churches. What is it that a false teacher seeks when he or she takes the place of a real pastor?
