The Motives behind Reparations examines key issues in the repaying or monetary gifts given to the descendants of slaves in Ameria.
Liberals and Democrats were for slavery. Slavery is an abuse of another human being in order for their “master” to get something from the slave, usually free work or cheaper labor (even slaves had to eat something). The principle behind slavery is to ignore morality, ignore what God wants, and to abuse another person inappropriately. Get something without going through what is proper in God’s eyes. But at some point, being in favor of slavery turned from being an advantage to a disadvantage for the Democrats, probably after all Democrats voted against freeing slaves and again when they got the vote under Abraham Lincoln. History is clear that the Democrats supported slavery and defended it. They were united against freeing slaves. The Klu Klux Klan was and is a distinct Democrat invention.
We get our morality from the Bible, and the Bible does not forbid slavery. The reason is not that God is in favor of that, but God has a bigger picture than we do. All men are slaves to what they worship. Rich white men in the South worshiped money, and they saw slavery as a way to riches. Rich people in the northern states at the time looked to manufacturing to do the same thing. Neither are morality free of guilt.
But the Democrats instead of admitting their own wrong doing, they pushed blame on white conservatives, saying that it was whiteness, or white supremacy. Note that the very same people which flip-flopped from pro slavery to anti-slavery, conveniently covered up their own positions and practices and unjustly used the slavery issue to again enslave black people. They never accepted their own wrong doings, just pushed the blame off on other white men. Then these Democrats became the champions of black people, who all black people should therefore vote for them (the Democrats).
This is a simplistic explanation, but my point is to begin this article with this context. Within this context, we need to understand the world at the time. In England, white people sold themselves into slavery in order to arrive in the New World (America) and after working for a period of time, they would be free and in a better place (better economic condition). This was not a forced slavery, but a period choice seen at the time as an economic contract. Also, those selling blacks in Africa were other black people which in turn so their slaves to white slave traders. In America, there were free blacks that bought and owned black slaves. So the matter is very complicated.
But to get a grasp of what has happened, something bad happened, slavery. The African slave trade stopped when England stopped those slave trader ships with the English fleet. In America, Abraham Lincoln and his Republican Party freed the slaves and later gave both blacks and then women the right to vote. So when people want to cast great moral shame on white conservatives, take a minute and think. Ask them how the Congress voted when slavery was repealed. All Democrat Congressmen voted against repealing slavery, and those white conservative Republican Congressmen forced it through anyway. Did the Democrat party (those rich white liberal men) ever admit their guilt, apologize, and offer reparations to the blacks? No. They want the American taxpayer to do it. During all of this and the American Civil War, half of the country went to war against the other half over the issue. Those who died in trying to stop slavery paid with their lives for the freedom of those slaves. Yet their descendants are now asked to pay unthinkable amounts of money to people who were never slaves, because all blacks became free before any living black person today.
Yet these considerations are forgetton or overlooked somehow. But we haven’t changed much from the days of slavery, because the entire issue in the heyday of slavery was people taking unfair advantage of others for their own profit. In that context, we ask if it is fair or unfair for people who never had slaves, if they should today pay people who were never slaves let’s say a million dollars per person? Is that fair?
Some would say yet, because they will say whatever they have to say in order to get money. The greed is just as real in black people today as it was in slave owners before the Civil War, and in the greedy rich manufacturing giants in the North in this time. The problem here is greed, and what lows people of low or no moral standards will do in order to get money.
Liberals worship power
Liberals will do whatever they have to in order to stay in power or return to power. They are extremists in worshipping their power-god, so these days are very dangerous. Since the Democrat party backed slavery, and the Republican party liberated the slaves, why don’t the Democrats just give millions or billions of dollars OF THEIR OWN PARTY MONEY to the blacks every year? The reason is because everything we are seeing works on the basis of greed. Greedy people do not pay for their errors. The scheme so that even if they do lose money, they get power from it.
Thus the Democrat Party takes taxpayer money and gives it away to blacks, to poor, to single moms, i.e. anybody they can convince that they are a victim, and they demand loyalty to the Democrat Party from these people. It is a different kind of slavery, but nonetheless it is the same thing, slavery.
Liberals use people
Satan made lying promises to Eve in the garden to use her for his intentions. This abuse of people is exactly what Satan does.
People who use other people with deceptions follow a pattern. The promised good is always attractive, but after all their show, the reality is depressingly not that promised good they offered. An example is the antipolice movement liberals push. The reality in California is that the stores cut services and eventually pack up and go elsewhere because of people´s abuse, and the lack of support (by enforcing the laws of the land). The “good” they offer is elusive and filled with unseen problems.
This then circles back to the previous premise. The solution is always more regulation or more pure power in their hands. Their god is their own self, as seen by their power and control over other people’s lives.
The Slave Reparation movement
Since the Democrat party voted 100% AGAINST freeing the black slaves, voted the same AGAINST giving blacks the vote, then the first step in reparations is admittance of guilt. Where has there been any Democrat lamenting of slavery that their party has defended? You can find many Democrats who will brutalize America’s history of mistreating blacks, women, immigrants, homosexuals, etc, but they never take any personal responsibility in any wrong doing or lack of insight in those people’s problems. Again, Satan’s tactics exactly. He is never wrong when he exerts power and control over people, that turns out bad for those people.
Why doesn’t the Democrat party take 50% of all donations to their political party and give that to blacks as reparations? Why don’t they admit their abuse of using people and lay out a path of change, focusing on listening to their grassroots supporters? Because that is not the pattern they follow. They abuse by forcibly taking money from others for some “just cause”, then they either steal a large part of that money for themselves, their political party, or they use that as a bribe to get and keep power.
They always tell their followers what are the grass roots feelings, what they are to believe, what they are to do. That is a top down pattern that never changes no matter how disasterous the leaders err. The only problems they want to hear are those that they can take up in a way to make themselves rich and powerful, i.e. use to abuse others. The Democrats have had various times when they controlled both the White House and the entire Congress, yet they never pushed for giving amnesty to the illegal aliens during those times. A Republican enters in the White House or Congress, and they insist that the Republican has to grant amnesty or he is racist. Why are Democrats racist for the same reason? These are the power plays of greedy corrupt men.
Some liberals will claim that history is wrong, so they want to rewrite history according to their own present plans. When others point to evidence in the form of old and undisputed documents that are true but contrary to their current control narrative, then they say “that is YOUR” truth but their truth is something else. What is that something else?
Satan presented an alternate truth but accusing God of evil, and convincing Eve that yielding to his power and control, this would somehow counterbalance that perceived evil. That would “make things right.” Did it? In no way.
So in the Old Testament there are concepts that are twisted to “for the narrative.” A person who did wrong was to make a reparation for that wrong, replace what he stole or damaged with what was lost. But note very carefully this principle. Only the person doing the wrong is to make the reparation. Only the person actually suffering the loss is to receive the reparation.
Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
When people want to bring morality into this issue, they only want it if it proves their position, and they don’t want to hear any morality if it doesn’t fit their worldview. The truth of the matter is that those who do wrong should be the ones who pay. Where are those people who owned slaves today? I believe they are all dead. Maybe we can see modern day slavery in the open borders which allowed some millions of people, many underage children, come into the United States to “be lost”. They are in black market work, chained to their work stations, and some are even sold into slavery. We see China’s products flooding America, and many of those cheapest things are made with Chinese slave labor. Again, which party is for this? The Democrat party. Do you see a pattern emerging?
Are there any people wanting or hoping to receive reparations, people that actually suffered the loss? No. Are the people owning, using and abusing other people for their own advantage around today?
The Bible lays down a principle of justice that punishment (including restoring what hurt was done) be singularly applied to an individual. The person doing the wrong has to be blamed and not others, and any reparations has to be given to the individual actually suffering loss from that wrongdoing. So if the children of a wrongdoer are not to suffer for their parents’ sins, how about receiving reparations for wrongs done to their parents? That is not the way the Bible presents justice. In fact, it is not justice but the sinful motive of revenge.
When we understand the principle of reparations in the Bible, those wanting those reparations suddenly lose all interest in morality. When we see the principle of not abusing others in order to pay for your own living, they totally reject morality.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
All of a sudden the true teaching of the Bible comes to bear. All of the government public assistence programs are out of line with the Bible. So suddenly this biblical morality is totally evil to these people. But those abuse people we spoke of at the beginning of this post are exactly the same as the people crying for reparations today. No difference really.
Sin is Assigned to Individuals
The point here that bears heavily on the issue of modern reparations is that the wrongdoer has to admit their wrongdoing publically, apologize to those they sin against and make reparations if there was physical loss of property. It is very hard for a person to admit wrongdoing and take the responsibility to pay back what they took, what they did wrong, when they didn’t do it. They ancestors did it. If we go far enough in the past, probably nobody can reasonably claim that they never had an ancestor that didn’t somewhere and somehow abuse others. If reparations are pressed for black people today, in the history of the world, there are more and more guilty people by this unfair association. Consider for a moment the German people. Because of what the German people did in the time of Hitler, should Germany pay reparations to the Jews forever? How about to all those countries that fought against Germany and had their citizens die? God’s principle is to hold those actually doing wrong guilty, and do not transfer guilt by association, even by being a descendant of the guilty.
Is slavery wrong? Yes. That is why I don’t own slaves. But that is also why I don’t want to buy anything made in China (having an active slavery going on there today in their manufacturing sector). That is why I like to buy American.
But it is very difficult and error filled to try and trace the wrong doing back centuries ago, to find those who suffered from slavery, and find who were doing the abusing of blacks, and then somehow force them to pay. This only works on a general moral level, i.e. guilt, because anything else is an exercise in futility.
There are blacks in America that their parents or even living blacks that were freeborn outside of America and came to the United States having never experienced slavery in America nor their ancestors IN AMERICA. Why would Americans make reparations for other nations that had or currently abuse people through slavery? That makes no sense.
Furthermore, there were blacks in colonial times who were free but bought slaves. Do they get a free pass here? Why? To use the color of a person’s skin as the basis for deciding, i.e. black skin pay me, white skin you are the offending party. That is simplistic, wrong, and illogical.
In the history of America, many white people in the days of slavery were against slavery. The civil war that destroyed our country had one whole side that fought and died for freeing the slaves. What if a general tax on all white people to be paid to black people including descendants of civil war parents who died defending freedom for blacks. That would be ironic and wrong, no justice.
The issue becomes impossible to fix, or that justice is done when time passes and justice is not executed quickly. Our law has a principle of the statute of limitations. This principle is very simple. Facts tend to become blurry with time. So after some limitation of time, a crime cannot be “fixed” or justice done anymore. Treason against the nation is an exception but even in that case the facts cannot depend on testimony of people’s memory going back dozens of years.
Does that erase the wrong that was done? No. But there are recourses in the form of modern laws and acts that prevent the same abuse from tepeating itself. Shame is a factor. I see no white people today in America bragging about their ancestors had slaves. If they did own slaves, they are embarrassed by that.
Modern Slavery-abusing of People
But we have to place a great amount of blame at the feet of the political party of the Democrats. Are they abusing people today in the same fashion as those old Democrats of the south did? Yes.
