Actors are Hypocrites examines the hypocritical nature of acting. Every actor pretends to be something that they are not.

The latest rant in Hollywood are movies with trans parts being portrayed by straight non-trans actors. What? All of Hollywood is made up of people pretending to be what they are not really. That is called acting. But if we really want to examine “hypocrisy”, which is being something you really are not, then all acting, all movies and TV shows have people who pretend to be something that they are not. What is scary is when an actor takes a series of parts that presents a monster character, a psychopath killer, and in real life, he seems to be acting from the truth of his character!

A “role-player” or actor is the concept of Hypocrite

In the Bible, this conduct of pretending or “playing a role of something you are not” is simply the word hypocrite.

You can tell this because actors almost never use their own real name, and in fact they change their name to something else, e.g. Lady Gaga, Boy George, etc. This is not to protect themselves, because the very same Hollywood immediately idolizes these actors and put everything personal (like their birth name) in publicity to sell something more.

The common denominator among all of them is their egos. They glory in fame. That is their life-blood, and very few actors every come to a point where they just want to be a normal person again (not famous). Hollywood accommodates them (except for those who break with Hollywood, which the “establishment” neatly forgets about them completely). Hollywood glorifies every aspect of their lives, because they only make money from stars, not nobodies. Every actor in Hollywood wants to be a rising star, and none want to fall into the category “of being an extra”, a no-name person that just makes up the background of a scene where a star is the center of focus.

The Power of Influence (seeing and hearing)

For people who watch all that comes from Hollywood, fraud, lies, and misrepresentation of the truth are common. It will spiritually affect all those who get under this influence.

2Pe 2:6-8 KJV 6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; 7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: 8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds😉

So there is a profound influence of constant examples of ungodly behavior rehearsed and repeated endlessly before the soul of even a godly man. A human person will have his morality “worn down” by the constant exposure to sinful lifestyles. Hollywood is exactly that, a constant bombardment of sinful lifestyles and actions. What Hollywood displays constantly is the perversity of humanity. As a part of the human race, we have to live in the same world as the rest. But we do not have to glorify and constantly dwell on that perversity.

God teaches us that sin is harmful to the sinner, and to everybody around that sinful person. Sin is the problem here. Sin is not doing God’s will. While we can sit and judge God as He rules us, rejecting His authority over us, we did not create ourselves. Nor do we sustain ourselves. That is the point, that we totally depend on God. If God determines something is wrong, it is because He in his infinite wisdom understands that it is wrong. God always offers the correct way, or the way of righteousness. We cannot retract from that way of righteousness and still be blessed.

When we “play” with unrighteousness, entertaining it in our lives, that sin will adversely affect us with spiritual harm that results in physical harm, and eventually leads to eternal damnation in hell. You cannot game and win against God. He will find out the truth (reality) and judge accordingly.

Homosexuality, and God’s View towards It

2 Peter 2:6-8 also explains why homosexuality in Old Testament Israel was dealt with by capital punishment, the proven homosexual was executed to get rid of this perversion from among the people. That also explains why up until recent years, homosexuals “were in the closet”. They feared for their lives, and rightfully so. God sees them as abominations that plague humanity, and they should be repressed at all means.

Homosexuals understand very well that two men together, or two women together, cannot procreate a child. They have to adopt somebody else’s child, or return to God’s way, a man with a woman. But the mindset of a gay person is not responsibility, but rather enjoyment. Adopting a child has responsibilities that most homosexuals “don’t do;” they don’t want to get involved with that responsibility. That is exactly the reason courts and judges in the past (today there are even homosexual judges or pro-homosexual judges), but in the past, gay couples could not adopt children. The fact that the majority of these gay couples are unstable in their “home life” if you can call what they have that means any thinking judge would not permit a homosexual couple to adopt. These relationships break up (not divorce because they do not get married nor do they have commitments one to the other more than for the night) at an astounding rate.

San Francisco Pastor Tim LaHaye who counseled many homosexuals in his book “The UnHappy Gay”, that there are two kinds of homosexuals, the chickens and the chicken hawks. The chickens are the average run-of-the-mill homosexual. They form relationships and break up within a week to a month or two. Rarely do they stay together, and even when you find two homosexuals that live together for years in the same house, they both have relationships without people outside the two. They are just sharing rent together. But the chicken hawk has no thought except sex, and he can have up to a dozen “partners” in a single night.

Homosexuals reproducing themselves through Influence

So homosexuals “reproduce” (produce more homosexuals, which is what they want, more partners or people trying or given over to that) by means of “converting” young people, especially children. What better way than TV and movies? The exact same thing as Sodom and Gomorrah and Lot is repeating itself with us today.

If we miss one of the most important points in understanding homosexuals, it may well be this point. What they do is to reproduce themselves, because they cannot have babies because of their life-style decisions. Why do they want to celebrate Gay Pride day with parades, or read gay stories by drag queens to elementary school kids? They want to remove any stigma these young people may have against their lifestyle. That eventually will produce more homosexuals is the thinking.

Comedians, the Mockers of Bible Times

Jude 1:18 KJV How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

A mocker is somebody who scorns (makes fun of, as in jokes about, or derision, etc.) himself or somebody else.

This is the modern day comedian. He makes fun of people. Rodney Dangerfield, Don Rickles, etc. for example, make fun of other people and even themselves. The whole idea is to get a laugh. Getting that laugh makes them money.

While many Christians indulge in watching comedy shows (undoubtedly the majority are on TV or are in movies), this is not God’s will. There is spiritual harm “in laughing” at other people or yourself.

Mockery is a sin Against the Creator

But in the light of the Word of God, Scripture, the Bible, God made man in His image. Jesus explains the point thusly,

Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

But if man is made in the image of God, then all aggressions of man against man are really aggressions against God, which causes God to take action in judgment against the aggressor. God’s image is “tarnished” when a man does not take a single woman, marry her, and act faithfully towards her until death do they part. A man who lives with another man as a normal man would with a woman, or women living with women as married to each other, or those mixed up people who cannot understand the sexual gender God designated for them at birth are all offending God.

Isn’t that Homophobic?

We need to understand “homophobia.” Those who are homosexuals, or bend that way, accuse others of hating homosexuals. They try to include themselves in privileged groups (women, minorities, blacks, etc.) but the big difference between them and these privileged groups is simply that what identifies them is a decision that they personally make for themselves, a sinful decision. No woman, nor black person, nor Chinese person, etc. DECIDED TO BE THAT. God designated them as that. And in fact, there is no shame in being a woman or black. God decided that for them, like God decided for others to be a man or white, or whatever they want to use in their modern day “race baiting” arguments today.

On the one side, we (Christians, moral people) are to accept everyone on the same basis, without giving one person a bias (favorable treatment without evidence that they deserve it) nor prejudice (poor treatment without them showing evidences that deserve that kind of treatment). A wise, obedient Christian should be careful and extra protective around a thief, a child molester, a murder, a rapist, etc.That is not racism. That is being wise to protect yourself.

Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

Romans 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

This concept means that God does not show favoritism or partiality based on a person’s race, status, or background; instead, He treats everyone equally based on what they are (their character as He sees it), and what they do (their speech and works as shown by the evidence of their lives).

This is the gold standard for dealing with others. What you see is what they are. Lying is a misrepresentation of what they really are. A person is not to lie, to misrepresent himself, nor are we to give false testimony of another person (misrepresent what they really are). Gossip enters here in the fact that facts and fiction are bandied about to impress and change the impression by others of the object of the gossip. Gossip or slander is wrong, a sin. Leviticus 19:16. See also Proverbs 16:28; 20:19; 11:13; Eph 4:29, etc.

So as a Christian, I should accept homosexuals at some level. Getting into bed with one is not that level. That is what homosexuals that throw around accusations of homophobia really want, “Try it, and you’ll like it.” If somebody recommends to me to drink a glass of drain cleaner, I do not have to try it to know it is not good for me. What is harmful to me, I avoid very intensely. The worse the harm, the greater the distance.

While I have personally presented the plan of salvation to homosexuals, I do try to share with them the truths of God, especially that which saves us from sin. But in my experience, the issue is that while they want to avoid hell, they also don’t want to give up their sin, which is a deal breaker in God’s eyes. Repentance and abandoning sin is a principle aspect of salvation.

Being Wiser than Lot

But as a Christian, I should be wiser than Lot was. Lot’s problem was a lot like a lot of modern day Christians. They want the prosperity “and entertainment” of sin (but again, enjoying it while avoiding the punishment from it). Abraham let Lot choose. Instead of forcing their servants to be civil one to another (Abraham’s servants with Lot’s), they separated. Lot chose what looked to be more economically rewarding. We read that he pitched his tents towards Sodom, and in the end, he was a “judge” sitting in the gates of Sodom deciding matters as a civil judge would do.

The lesson here is that sinful, abominable people are wiser in these worldly things than the children of God. They “rewarded” Lot with fame and power, and he fell for it. Implicitly, he approved their abominations. I wonder if modern day “preachers” who fall into Hollywood’s web of influence, fame, power, money, etc. are no different from what Lot was.

Wise people should be very cautious with hypocrites and everything Hollywood.
