Seven Marks of a Good Sermon
quote from article - "A good sermon has a "take-away" thought(s), and this is what we should leave the building with to change our lives spiritually to make us more like Christ. If a sermon teaches me how to be like Christ, with an application of the information about the Bible in it, and an exhortation to my soul to change, then it probably is a good sermon. But the preacher who has lost the point of every preaching exercise HAS TO HAVE the purpose to spiritually change the lives of the audience, is not a good preacher nor does he produce good sermons."
ch34 Brethren, we must not fight! explains why Christians should not be contentious, especially between brethren.
Topics: Because it is important? | Irritating one another | Biting and wasting away | The Relationship Between One Another | Upholding one another and putting up with one another | Forgiving one another | Exhorting and teaching you | Cheer up and build yourselves.
Except from the Tract: The Bible speaks of a Christian as a person who has a different personality. This person who is saved is someone who seeks to impose brotherly love in his life, in that he loves his brethren. This is a change from the carnal life he was in before he was saved, “living in malice and envy, loathsome, and hating one another.” (Titus 3:3)... Perhaps it is not very obvious why brethren should not fight, but God hates brethren when they are fighting. First, we have to understand that God in his essence is love. Aggression, friction, strife, and fighting are things that God opposes.
ch34 Brethren, we must not fight!
There are Christians who do not feed themselves well spiritually speaking. In place of going to a good church with healthy spiritual food, these will feed themselves on anything, but mostly trash. ... The nature of goats is that they like to exalt themselves. It is a classic sight to see a goat with his head high in the air, while sheep have they head bent down feeding....(Goats) are always going head-to-head with everyone, especially with each other, and with any who crosses them... Sheep naturally have a loyalty to a good man of God who faithfully feeds them from the goodness of the Word of God. ... Perhaps the worse mark of a goat is simple his attitude. He is never satisfied with anything. ... The mark of the children of God is their cooperation among themselves, and their spiritual and emotional support for the lives one of another, and their aversion to complaining and conflict within the family of God. They put up with things and take personal loss to keep the peace. Please support our tract ministry by donating on the tract website (see sidebar).
