There are people calling for compassion to allow the illegal alien immigrants alone in the United States. The pope has condemned the US saying that we are morally wrong to enforce our immigration laws.

Rom 13:1-7 KJV 1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. 6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
What these “religious voices” would have us to do, is to disobey our country’s laws for some religious and moral reason. But morality can only be correctly understood in relation to God and God’s word, God’s commandments.
We (Christians, moral people) are not to disobey the laws of the country where live.
This has two applications in this discussion.
(1) Those foreigners who come to our country without permission, overstay their visas, or come in without a work visa and work illegally, are breaking the law and sinning in God’s eyes. A moral person cannot help nor shield that person and stay moral.
(2) Any American citizen who helps, abets, defends, or hides a criminal is himself immoral. In other words, in any way accept them as American citizens and let them continue breaking the law.
What people who promote sanctuary cities and states are finding out is that they themselves have crossed the line in criminal activity. AOC and Omar Ilhan are learning that the hard way.
There is nothing wrong, immoral, or shameful about applying for a visa and going to another country legally. What is wrong morally is to break the laws in any way for any reason to achieve that goal.
Within the Bible, God answers the dilemma of when a country’s laws are in direct conflict with God’s laws.
Act 5:29 KJV Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
But if a Christian feels this is a valid conflict and refuses to obey an unbiblical law, he will gladly suffer any consequences. He will also have an extremely clear verse of the Bible to show where the law is unbiblical.
So we should have compassion on everyone, but when people break our countries laws, they should be punished. If that is illegal entry into the United States, or illegally overstaying their visa, or working when they are not allowed by the visa type they have, they should be punished and removed from the United States. That is what is moral.
We cannot let people use these kinds of incorrect, illogical, unbiblical moral arguments to allow criminals to remain in our country. Note that a person who is in the United States illegally, or working illegally, is a criminal by that fact alone, and there needs to be no other criminal action done to be removed.
In reality, it is extremely generous of the United States that they deport these people. Their criminal action (entering illegally) broke US law, and therefore they should really go to jail, not back to their own country. If the United States were to make detainment camps in Arizona or Nevada in the desert, and make them for several million, and send every illegal caught there for 10 years, would they prefer that or returning to their home country? It is the graciousness of the United States that these detainment camps are not the practice. Trump is using Guantánamo as a detainment camp, and that is legal. I believe that is because these individuals are criminals in their own country, and that country doesn’t want them back.
